Cyberpunk 2077 has been recognized for its dedication and hard work with the Labor of Love award at the Steam Awards 2022. Among a list of impressive contenders, including No Man's Sky, Deep Rock: Galactic, Dota 2, and Project Zomboid, Cyberpunk 2077 stood out due to its continuous stream of post-launch updates and fixes.
Despite its rocky start, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to these improvements and the excitement surrounding the Netflix anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The award description notes, "This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."
The game's success can be traced back to February, when the next-gen update (Version 1.5 for PC players) was released, featuring bug fixes and free DLC. In September, developer CD Projekt Red launched the Edgerunners update to coincide with the anime series and announced the Phantom Liberty expansion, set to release this year. Additionally, the highly anticipated sequel, codenamed Orion, was revealed.
