The tech world is buzzing with anticipation as Samsung prepares to unveil its flagship device for 2023, the Samsung Galaxy S23, on February 1st. But that's not the only reason why Samsung is making headlines recently. Corning, the company behind Gorilla Glass, announced that its newest Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will play a key role in the design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone.
In an official post on Corning's website, the company highlighted the significant improvements in durability that Gorilla Glass Victus 2 brings. The new material promises better drop performance on rough surfaces like concrete and asphalt, making the Samsung Galaxy S23 even more durable than previous models. Additionally, Corning notes that the new glass is more sustainable, containing an average of 22% recycled content.
This is not the first time that Samsung has incorporated Gorilla Glass in its devices, but it will be the first time that the Samsung Galaxy S23 features Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The new material was officially announced by Corning in November of last year and has yet to be featured in any other smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 will also come with a host of other improvements, including better performance and thermals, brighter displays, and more. The only question that remains is how much the new device will cost. Reports have been conflicting, but with the addition of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, users can expect a slightly higher price point for the added durability and sustainability.
